Yes it's true that obtaining a faculty position in the universities of the same level as your Ph.D.'s institution could be competitive. Usually, when you graduate, you'll firstly look for a faculty position in a university with a lower ranking - then after two or three years experience of assistant professor, you move to the better places. What you've mentioned is definitely one of the cons, but the pros are also apparent - for whatever work you've done, you take the full credit (first and corresponding author). Also just btw, faculty positions are usually based on "match" rather than pure publications.
For example, if the universities post a position to hire someone with a specialty in AI, then even if you have 100 publications in the hardware area, that means nothing. Hopefully you'll find what you are really interested in which is also a timely research field.

Thank you!  I learn a lot from your words and sincerely appreciate.  Maybe this is a great way to sharp my skills,  becoming a professor with full capacity in conducting research even if I cannot receive suggestions from my advisor.  Whatever the decision that I make is  at the end, your suggestions would be    greatly helpful and I will take into account.
