Fei Miao is an Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, with joint appointment at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Connecticut since August 2017. Her work investigates data-driven optimization and control theories with application to transportation resource allocation, attack detection and resilient control schemes for cyber-physical systems, coordination of autonomous vehicles to guarantee safety of the transportation systems. Before joining Uconn, she was a postdoc researcher at the GRASP lab and PRECISE center of Upenn from September 2016 to August 2017. She received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in August 2016, and a B.S. degree in Automation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in June 2010. She is looking for self-motivated PhD students with interests and expertise in optimization, machine learning, formal methods, and control theory, with application to autonomous vehicles, transportation systems, microgrid networks, and cyber-physical systems. Strong mathematical background is preferred, strong programming or machine learning projects experience is a plus. Undergraduate or master majoring in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, Physics are preferred.
