J-1 Scholar 与 J-1 Exchange student的区别

最近陶瓷了UCI的暑研，发邮件咨询了一下UCI International Center有关J-1 visa的问题，对方回复说要我确认是办理J-1 Exchange student还是J-1 Scholar签证。想问一下大家这两者有什么区别呀，下面是对方的回复：
