Multiple funded PhD and Postdoc positions (starting from Fall 2020) are available in Dr. Ting Wang’s research group in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) at Penn State University. Our group conducts research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and privacy & security. Our ongoing work focuses on making machine learning systems more practically usable through improving their security assurance, privacy preservation, and decision-making transparency. The students will work on the following research topics:
(1) Adversarial machine learning;
(2) Privacy-preserving machine learning;
(3) Interpretable machine learning;
(4) Other emerging AI security topics.
Requirements:
(1) Undergraduate or Master’s students with degrees in Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or related majors.
(2) Strong programming and/or mathematical skills.
(3) Candidates with research experience in data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, privacy, and/or security are preferred.
(4) Proficiency in English reading and writing (through GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores);
(5) Strong motivation for conducting cutting-edge research and solving challenging problems.
