The City University of Hong Kong, department of electronic engineering (EE) invites applicants for a research assistant (RA) and Ph.D. students, beginning in Fall 2013/Spring 2014, in the area of Communications Theory and Communication Signal Processing. The preference will be given to candidates with strong mathematical background, deep knowledge on communication theory, and MIMO systems. Candidates must be passionate about research and driven by your enthusiasm to pursue a research career (e.g., professor, industrial technician, leading researcher, etc.).      

Basic qualifications for PhD include

• a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based)
• a minimum overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS or a score of 490 in the Chinese mainland’s College English Test Band 6 or other test scores that may be regarded as equivalent to TOEFL 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 79 (internet-based)
• a minimum GPA 85% for both undergraduate and MS courses
• a minimum one SCI journal publication

The RA position is aimed at conducting focused research in Wireless Communication Theory and preparing for smooth migration to PhD study. The applicants must have good oral and written communication skills in English and high scores in theoretic courses and publications in IEEE conferences or journals.
