stanford和Berkeley的program选择

我正在准备网申，遇到几个问题。来和地里面的朋友请教和讨论下BerkeleyEE的program有好几个选择，有MS,MS/PhD,PhD，Berkeley不是不招MS么？第一个MS是啥意思啊。另外我咨询了在Berkeley的学长，他说第一个直接pass，本科生选第二个，有ms文凭的选第三个

第二个问题是关于Stanford的，之前学长告诉我Stanford直接申PhD，他要是觉得你不够qualified会自动把你降为MS。那么这几年Stanford的EE MS都是差不多这样来的么？
今天在Stanford的网站上看到他提供的学历有MS，PhD，还有一个比较诡异的Engr。
这个，最后一个是干嘛的。
如果想去Stanford，而且觉得硕士也行应该选MS还是PhD啊

1. ms意思就是自费ms，Berkeley应该是很少从大陆招自费ms过去的，主要面向的应该是美本和在职/回炉（i guess）。所以你学长说pass。MS/PhD意思是连读，就是本科生应该选的。phd就是拿了ms以后去读phd啦
2. 不是，也有很多自费MS直接录。Engr？你确定你没看错？
硕士也行的话就直接ms吧，据dincy说斯坦福的EE MS还不难的说。

Master's of ScienceTheMaster's degree program provides advanced preparation forprofessional practice or for teaching at the junior college level. Itmay also serve as the first step in graduate work leading to the degreeof Engineer or Ph.D. The department does not prescribe specific courses tobe taken but it does provide guidelines for acceptable programs. I think your post in #4 has shown the difference in these two degrees.

我有一个问题，假设我想申请yale的master，是不是直接就拼硬指标呢？他们的research areas就完全没有必要看了？

是啊，囧的是从来没听说过谁拿到这个学位了。需要怎样的背景，花费如何，有没有机会拿financial aid等等

原来不收master 学位的啊，我还以为今年正好凑巧没有呢
话说berkeley stat 的ms/phd program 是我们这届新出来的，所以没有人申请，然后系里就从master 和phd pool 里面挑了一些人进这个program。

ps 为啥那么最近那么多人compare berkeley 和stanford， 我可不可以觉得这是挑拨离间~~我们已经是十八代世仇了，还比~~~~
