「Business Analyst 科普」究竟商业分析师都做什么？在企业中起到什么样的角色？

前言
作为一名商业分析师，经常有人问我是做什么的。我经常需要花点时间来清楚地说明我的工作，而我的解释听起来总是有点模棱两可。

甚至有的时候，在Job description上你会看到赫然写的是Data Analyst的工作内容，但是招聘的是Business Analyst。

Specific Duties Include:
Partnering with the user community to create new business intelligence, reporting and data analysis solutions.
Maintaining existing software systems related to business intelligence, reporting and data analysis.
. ----Identify improvements to existing business intelligence, reporting and data analysis.
Capture, develop, and document data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
Build and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and integration processes.
Validate data delivered to user community.
Ensure compliance with Protolabs data and software policies and procedures.
Monitor software systems to ensure reliability and accuracy of information loaded into the databases.
Maintain all documentation related to database objects, source systems, and operations.
Conduct complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.

商业分析师定义：在硅谷的科技公司中，大部分情况下，Business Analyst都会在软件项目开发团队中工作(Under the management of CTO)。Business Analyst会在团队的开发项目中向Business Team中的Project Manager report，起到连接Business Team（end user, management, stake holder）和 development team的作用。



Business analysts (BAs) are responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders.

BAs engage with business leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value. They must articulate those ideas but also balance them against what’s technologically feasible and financially and functionally reasonable. BA在软件项目开发中扮演的角色
1. 启动软件项目

这个阶段包括对项目需求high level的整合，指出需要解决的问题。商业分析师汇集所有相关队员，收集所有资料，并拟备一份project charter，最终Management决定是否要实施此项目。

2. 解释与收集业务需求

此阶段涉及到与end users 合作并分析他们的需求。因此，商业分析师要确保各利益相关方对所要实施的方案达成一致意见，并为开发团队准备设计和实施方案所需的背景材料。

3.翻译技术问题

BA需要为管理层和开发团队讲需求翻译成产品功能，并且分解技术和架构的复杂性，比如向他们解释开发人员在做什么或者为什么他们需要这样做。同时，BA需要向管理层与PM传达项目的时间表和评估。

4. 政策指导

BA可以帮助开发团队避免所有的政策雷区，帮助设计师避免触碰法律上的红线。BA还可以帮助开发团队面试应聘人员。

5. 软件项目的实施

BA没有直接参与实施阶段。然而，如果在实施过程中出现了一些问题，BA需要提供额外的support给development team，包括召开会议来解决新发现的需求，并与开发团队进行沟通，同时向管理层提供有关信息。BA还可以为培训、文档和用户验收测试提供支持。

6. 在整个过程中代表项目干系人

由于项目开发团队（development team）没有直接接触面向用户(end-users)的渠道，BA可以向他们提供必要的行业信息(industry knowledge)、需求(needs and business requirement )和业务优先级(priorities)，反过来也必须与用户沟通以验证信息和决策。
