Purdue University PhD Openings: Data Mining/Machine Learning/Internet of Things/Cyber Physical Systems

Dr. Lu Su and Dr. Jing Gao will join the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University as Associate Professors in Computer Engineering in January 2021. They are looking for prospective Ph.D students and visiting scholars.


Dr. Su's research interests lie in the general areas of Internet of things, cyber-physical systems, wireless, mobile, and crowd sensing systems, as well as big data analysis. Thus far, he has published over 130 papers in various top conferences/journals such as MobiCom, SenSys, MobiHoc, INFOCOM, UbiComp, S&P, ICDCS, IPSN, ICNP, RTSS, TON, TMC, and TOSN. Dr. Gao's research is in the general area of data and information analysis with a focus on data mining and machine learning. In particular, she is interested in information trustworthiness analysis, knowledge graphs, text analysis, anomaly detection, crowdsourcing, transfer learning, stream mining, social media analysis, health informatics, rumor detection, smart transportation, educational analytics and data privacy and security. She has published 1 book, 3 book chapters, and over 170 papers in prestigious scientific venues, including KDD, SIGMOD, VLDB, NIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, WWW, WSDM, CIKM, SDM, ICDM, ICDE, ECML/PKDD, and TKDE. The students graduated from their groups joined Pennsylvania State University, Iowa State University, University of Georgia, Georgia State University as faculty, Alibaba DAMO Academy, J.D. Research, Samsung Research as researchers, and Google, Facebook as engineers.

我因为看到Prof. Jing Gao太强了，我肯定进不去所以换了别人。。。

我看写的是send cv to Dr. Gao and Dr. Su，是要两个老师同时发吗？感觉有点奇怪确认下

你好，不需要给两位老师都发，只需要发给你感兴趣的那位就可以啦

你好！请问怎么判断一个prof难不难申请啊？我好像没有什么经验都是乱申请的，除了看引用量和h-index，还有现在组里phd学生的背景以外，还有其他的参考条件吗？我本来觉得buffalo好像不算特别强的学校应该门槛稍微低一点于是申了buffalo另一位老师的phd，现在很慌。。。

还是直接发邮件问有没有位置吧，这比网上查资料能获得的信息多很多。
