Postdoctoral hiring at University of Nevada, Reno (modeling and simulations)

The Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) seeks to fill a Postdoctoral position. This non-tenure track full-time position is contingent on funding. This position is offered for a one year term. This research project will focus on extracting the details of the kinetics, dynamics, and mechanisms of thermal decomposition of clathrate hydrates from quantum mechanism simulations and reactive force field molecular dynamics simulations.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Materials Sciences, Chemical Engineering or closely related field by time of appointment.

PI information:
Dr. Qi An is an assistant professor in the Chemical & Materials Engineering Department at University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) since July 2016. He completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science at Caltech (2012). Then He was a postdoctoral scholar in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Caltech before joining UNR. His research area is computational materials science. His research specifically focuses on computational materials design; deformation and failure mechanisms of materials; metallic glass and heterogeneous catalysis. He has authored or co-authored over 140 publications in the scientific journals such as Nature, Science, Physical Review Letters, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of the American Chemical Society, etc.
