A Ph.D. position is available in Prof. Sun's group in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering department (MIE) at Northeastern University (NEU) (https://coe.northeastern.edu/people/sun-hongwei/).
Dr. Sun's research areas include multiphase thermal transport phenomena, acoustic wave bio and chemical sensors and actuators, thermal management of fibers and films, thermal energy storage materials and processing, microchannel cooling systems, nanoimprinting process and applications, MEMS/NEMS fabrication, microfluidics and bioMEMS, nanoscale magnetic assembly and applications.
The Ph.D. student will be provided the opportunity to work on one of the research fields depending on his/her interests. In addition, the student will be trained on the state-of-the-art MEMS/NMES fabrication and characterization (SEM, TEM, and AFM) technologies. In addition, the student will have the opportunities to work with experts from multidisciplinary fields. Highly motivated individual with a general background in thermofluids, material science and/or electric engineering along with good hands-on skills, would be ideal. A background in computation and micro/nanofabrication will be a plus.
The position could be started on September 2021 or January 2022.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr. Sun at ho.sun@northeastern.edu. Candidates should send a detailed CV, copy of undergraduate transcript and short research statement to Dr. Hongwei Sun at: Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, Northeastern University,
