Yongle Zhang is recruiting PhD students to join his research group at Purdue University in Spring 2022. His group focuses on software systems, distributed systems, and reliability.

Bio:
Yongle Zhang is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at Purdue University.
Research Bio:
His research interest is in systems software with a focus on improving the reliability and availability of complex, real-world systems. In particular, the group is currently working on cutting-edge tools that help developers with failure detection and diagnosis in production cloud systems, design and implementation of diagnosable software systems, as well as bug pattern detection with machine learning techniques.
His works have been published in top systems conferences including OSDI and SOSP, deployed in top tech companies, and covered by popular academic media. He has been invited to give talks at top universities and research institutes worldwide including University of Michigan, Yale University, Peking University, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Requirements:
Strong passion for software system research.
Good system programming skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Students with provable experience (publications or projects) in building and analyzing systems are greatly encouraged to apply, especially those with one of the following skills:
Systems: cloud systems, distributed systems, big data systems (SQL and NoSQL), storage/file systems, operating systems, databases, security, compilers;
Software Engineering: program analysis, symbolic execution, model checking, testing;
Modern hardware: Intel PT, SGX, RDMA, non-volatile memory, GPU;
Machine learning: graph learning, NLP;
