The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Florida is seeking motivated candidates to fill a postdoc position. We especially welcome recent PhD graduates with a background in parallel computing, computational biology, and large-scale data management to apply. Experience on GPU computing, statistical data analysis, and development of open-source software will be a plus. The postdoc fellow will conduct research under the guidance of Dr. Yicheng Tu, and will be working closely with a small group of highly-motivated graduate students. The position will be funded via a multi-year NIH research award, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The postdoc fellow will conduct research in the context of a project that aims at efficient data management for molecular simulation (MS), which is a popular computational tool for studying the physical / chemical properties of molecular systems. In addition to developing tools, the fellow is expected to explore advanced methodology in large-scale scientific data analysis and publish in high-impact venues in both the database systems and computational science fields.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (http://www.usf.edu/engineering/cse/) has twenty-eight (28) tenure-track/tenured faculty members, eleven (11) instructors, seven (7) staff members/advisors, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, serving nearly 2000 undergraduates, 120 masters, and 100 PhD students. The department has a strong working relationship with the Florida Center for Cybersecurity. Department faculty includes twelve NSF CAREER awardees, one National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow, four IEEE Fellows, four IAPR Fellows, three AAAS Fellows, and three AIMBE Fellows. The Computer Engineering graduate program was ranked 50th among US public universities by US News and World Report (2019). USF CSE is in the top sixth (rank 31) of Computer Science departments at U.S. public universities, according to most recent Academic Analytics data based on Scholarly Research Index.
