Prof. Xinmiao Zhang is looking for highly-motivated Ph.D. students to join her lab (https://ece.osu.edu/people/zhang.8952) at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of The Ohio State University. Our graduate program is ranked 22nd in the most recent US News ranking.
Two RA positions are available in Spring or Fall 2022 for error-correcting codes, post-quantum cryptography, and their hardware accelerators, which are essential to the reliability and security of next-generation digital storage and communications systems. Internships at high-tech companies may also be available through the project. Good math and analytical background is required. Prior experience on error-correcting coding, communications, signal processing, or related topics is preferred. These research does NOT require advanced knowledge on hardware design. Basic understanding of digital logic design, such as that covered in a sophomore course, is sufficient.
Our research translates theoretical advancements to highly efficient practical implementations through integrated algorithmic and architectural optimizations. Students in this research area are highly sought after by major high-tech companies The focuses of our current research include coding schemes and system architecture design for next-generation memories and digital communications, hardware security, post-quantum cryptography, and machine learning. Students interested in these research areas are also encouraged to apply.
Interested students may send the CV and transcripts in PDF to Prof. Zhang (zhang.8952 at osu.edu). Applications to our Ph.D. program can be submitted through https://gpadmissions.osu.edu/apply/grad.html and the deadline can be extended.
