PhD position in experimental 2D- and quantum- materials research.

The Surface and Interface Science Laboratory in the Physics Department at the University of South Florida in Tampa has openings for graduate student education and research. The focus is on the synthesis, atomic-scale modification, and characterization of low dimensional materials. This includes properties of native and extrinsic defects and dopants, coupling of properties across interfaces, and novel nanoscale approaches for synthesizing new quantum materials. The control and modification of properties in these materials find applications from spintronic devices to electrocatalysis and these applications are actively explored. Experience in molecular beam epitaxy, scanning probe microscopy, and/or photoemission spectroscopy are a plus but not essential.  For applications, TOEFL (IBT, 79 ) scores are required.
