Laboratory for Visualized Structural Health Monitoring at Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina is seeking graduate students for Fall 2022 to work in the area of advanced structural health monitoring and nondestructive evaluation (SHM/NDE). Students will conduct interdisciplinary research on sensor and sensing techniques, data analysis, detection algorithms based on the use of ultrasonic waves or vibration methods for structural components in various industries. Through the study the students will also develop problem solving capability, communication skills, and teamwork capability. Students with a MS degree who plan to begin for Fall 2022 and with relevant background/experiences in ultrasonic methods, damage detection, vibration measurements or similar and Matlab programming are encouraged to contact the professor Dr. Yu at yu3@cec.sc.edu with a most recent CV listing courses taken and publications.
