威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校机械系招收全奖博士生 (Scientific Machine Learning方向)

Dr. Jinlong Wu in Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison is hiring two Ph.D. students (the anticipated starting term is 2022 Fall) in research areas of Scientific Machine Learning, Data Assimilation, Uncertainty Quantification, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Dynamical Systems. Dr. Wu (https://www.jinlongwu.org) obtained his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering at Virginia Tech and currently works at Caltech as a research scientist, and he will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison as an assistant professor in August, 2022.

The research topics of Ph.D. students in Dr. Wu’s group will mainly focus on developing novel and scalable data-driven modeling techniques, with the opportunities to collaborate on various scientific and engineering applications (e.g., climate change and renewable energy systems, advanced manufacturing, autonomous systems, biomechanics). The students will be supported by research assistantships that cover the full tuition and stipend.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor/Master degree in engineering, applied math, or a related field.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Passionate about Scientific Machine Learning/Data Assimilation/Uncertainty Quantification
• Strong coding skill in at least one programming language (Python/Julia/C/C++)
• Solid backgrounds of undergraduate-level math and statistics courses
• Previous experiences with research projects of computational science/modeling
• Proficiency in English reading, writing and speaking
