去年一直到3月，都有人拿到uiuc offer，both EE and CS.

This year Chinese applicants are very strong, almost all the highly ranked Chinese applicants got top international conference publications, and GPA is also ranked at the top of their universities.  For example, one student in Zhejiang Univ. who got one good  international conf. publication as BS is not selected so far since there are stronger candidates.  Many in Tsinghua who got publications in BS still got rejected.  I do not think our group has selected any student from non-top-5 Chinese university and only one selected from Peking Univ. who got one int. conf. publication as well.

回到你的问题上，yes，套磁，uiuc如果背景不是很强，就得套磁。以前曾经被个老师弄的读了>10篇论文，头晕眼花的才搞定。{:4_84:}

Jiawei Han.
