A funded PhD student position is available in the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida beginning in Spring 2023 or Fall 2023. The student will be a member of an interdisciplinary team studying flow dynamics and sediment transport in salt marshes using numerical simulations. Responsibility include model development and simulation of flow-vegetation interaction and boat wake impacts on ecogeomorphic processes of salt marshes.
Ideal applicants will have a degree in civil, coastal, or environmental engineering (or equivalent), excellent written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated potential to conduct research as part of an interdisciplinary team. Prior experience in computational fluid dynamics modelling, numerical methods, and data analysis are highly desired. Experience modelling flow-structure interactions and in science communication are additional assets.
