The computational Imaging Laboratory (CIL) – (https://cil.cs.ucf.edu/) of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a highly motivated Computer Vision and Machine Learning Postdoctoral Fellow to join a team of energetic graduate students working with an industrial partner in the area of solar energy.
The Challenge: Developing, implementing, and deploying cutting-edge methods of computer vision and deep learning in the field of solar energy production.

What You Will Do:
• Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of graduate students and engineers from local industry, you will be coordinating the development of a platform consisting of cameras and other sensors, collect realistic data, develop algorithms, and perform on-site testing and deployment of the methods.
• Present research results and activities to industry partners and team.
• Disseminate results of research through refereed publications, reports, and conference presentations.
• Ensure that new methods and all developed code are fully documented for use by the team and the broader community.

What is Required:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with specialization in computer vision and machine learning.
• Hands-on experience with implementing and deployment of computer vision (in particular 3D vision) algorithms and machine learning methods in real-life problems.
• Experience in building and training practical computer vision and ML/DL models.
• Experience with computer vision and machine learning/deep learning frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Demonstrably effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team, including with the graduate students and with engineers from industrial partners.

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in building platforms with cameras and other sensors for data collection.
• Experience in training of complex deep learning models on large scientific datasets.
• Experience in realistic data collection and keeping abreast with new deep learning innovations in training algorithms to be deployed in real life.
• Experience with the development and performance optimization of scientific software.
• Publication record and contributions to open source software projects commensurate with years of experience.
Notes:
• This is a full-time, 12 months, postdoctoral or research scientist appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
• Salary is determined based on step rates at UCF.
• This position may be subject to a background check.
• Work will be primarily performed at UCF but also with on-site data collection, tests, and deployment.
