Gatech太穷已经严重影响 学校质量了 以前和我争论的那几个不服来辩

我是标题党
只是想吐槽一下小秘，各种不回邮件，傲慢无礼。比如之前问graduate admission office有没有compus tour，小秘回答：'listen, we provide nothing. All u can do is go to the department tomorrow and try to find the professors in their office'。

早就听说gatech的小秘都是些黑胖女人。。。哎，总是有种你有什么事，他们也都不管的感觉。（包括我现在都没收到学校的final confirm。。。更别提什么I20了）

难道公立学校就这样么，这样会影响教学质量么！？！

会不会被坑。。。

而且，根据usnews的数据，Admissions rate有54.9%!!! （据说就是因为是公立）。作为对比: UCSD: 37.8%, USC: 19.9!!, UCLA: 22.0%, 哥大: 7.4%!!, JHU: 17.7%, Emory: 26.3%。。。虽说是本科的数据但也说明点什么吧

private schools and public schools are very very differnt. usually public school is for middle class, you survive by yourself, answer to no one and expect no one's help. Private schools are very very different, they take care of students very greatly, such as service and net working. You have to understand the nature of private schools and public schools. one extreme comparision would be Yale vs. UC berkeley. However, I never went to other public  universities, so I cannot say if gatech is at the bottom or average or at the top of public schools.

Yes, but funds are complex. Professors' research fundings have nothing to do with tuition/teach rather than the fact that GRA's tuition got covered by these fundings. UIUC is extremely poor and in my view, poorer than GT. However, no one would doubt UIUC's academic research reputation of ECE department. You know what I mean if you are in the industry.
To sum up, it's a very long and extremely complex question. To answer it in short. Yes and No. poorer schools' teaching quality is less than richer schools. But you have to consider a lot of other factors including:
1. most private schools suck at engineering or their engineering departments are too small and have quite litte impacts and influence. So the oppertunites there are much fewer.
2. I am getting tired at typing, there are many other factors.

You have to also consider the other facts. I don't even want to list them because they are too many. It's hard to answer when the question is too simlified and misguided. For instance, it's a joke if anyone compares Emory's ECE to GT's ECE.

Of course no for you, unless thesis master.



I think you have too much expection for GT and felt down when found out the truth. The truth is for engineering(excluding IE's financial direction and BME), schools' ranking matters in term of groups.
Rank I group inlcudes MIT and etc depends on specific majors, around 4 schools
Rank II group includes GT, UIUC and etc depends on specific majors up to 20 schools
Rank II group include, maybe up to 50 or even 80 schools.

I have no interest in discussing other ranks. It's a joke if anyone is saying UIUC is significantly better than GT. But it's also a joke to say UIUC is significantly worse than GT. After all, the difference of schools in the same rank is very slim.

To fully answers all your questions, I have to write up to 20 pages in font size of 10. I could not do it. I personally say GT is average or low at Rank II Group depends on majors.

哦是啊我们学校可差了危险死了，全美工学院排名才前4，ECE排名才前5，CS排名才前10，毕业了的找工作平均年薪也才上105k，毕业一年的学姐没去湾区了才买得起房子真是一塌糊涂啊.。

CMU就业是不错，但是某些人这种疯狗精神真是给贵校抹黑啊

你说的是某个小秘， 怎么就转到Gatech很烂了。。  
GRE argument怎么学的？
Gatech现在好像工科全美第六， CS全美第七。  
Gatech funding很足。
本科录取率那是所有公立学校的通病吧。
