Position Summary We're seeking a full-time Senior Big Data Engineer (official title is Senior Big Data Engineer I) our San Diego-based corporate office. The Big Data team has the unique opportunity to own the US-based Big Data operations, refactor and redesign, while partnering with an established global organization. We are looking for an experienced Senior Big Data Engineer to support operations, solve complex issues, and drive growth. We achieve this goal by building and deploying highly scalable data pipelines, adhering to software/data engineering best practices, and ensuring the security and quality of our data to the delight of our consumers.
Job Responsibilities - Partner in a cross-functional global organization across data, security, infrastructure, and business teams to understand data needs.
- Design, development, implementation, operations, and support of the Big Data real-time streaming pipelines in a secure and performant manner using Apache Flink, Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.
- Design, development, implementation, operations, and support of the Big Data batch applications using Apache Hive, Apache Tez and Python
- Partner in a cross-functional global organization across data, security, infrastructure, and business teams to enforce data security policies and to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Create best-in-class data solutions with strong documentation for implementing, executing, and operations and supports
- Work Jira projects or project steps to resolution within a team and / or while working independently with minimal direction and guidance
- Follow approved life cycle methodologies and DevOps / DataOps procedures, perform program coding and testing, and create and maintain design and support documentation
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis
Job Requirements - Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent advance technology field of study
- A minimum of 5-8 years of hands-on experience in Java, Kafka, Flink and Spark. Skilled in managing highly critical transformation projects and capable of developing high-throughput real-time streaming pipelines with 24x7 availability.
- Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL, and high degree of competency programing in Python or Scala and passion for writing clean, supportable code
- Experience working in Unix/Linus environments.
- High level of personal integrity, with the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and exudes the appropriate level of judgment and maturity
- Strong communication and productive partnership with analysts, engineers, business leaders
Nice to Have - Ability to speak/read Mandarin Chinese
- Experience working in Azure
Pay $130,600.00 min. - $226,000.00 max annually. Bonus & RSU offered.
