关于留学自费M.S.orPh.D.的一系列问题

1. 收到WPI的phd的ad，信中说
If you are offered admission to graduate study at WPI and you have not received a financial assistantship, you will be sent an admission letter, a graduate admission response form, and an International Student Information Form. On the Form, you will be required to demonstrate no less than $34880 worth of funding for the academic year to cover tuition and living expense. If you plan to take summer courses, you should have additional money available. Once you return the completed information and admission response forms with a non-refundable tuition deposit of $500, you will be mailed an I-20, which you can use to apply for F-1 student visa in your home country.

我这里对academic year 和 summer courses 不太理解。 换句话说我对美国教育机构里收取学费的标准有些不太明白。美国学校是按年收取学费还是按照学分收取学费？ 这里WPI所说的academic year是什么意思？ 是指全部费用还是仅仅是第一学年的费用？ 另外什么是summer courses额外的费用？summer courses指的是什么？ phd需要修summer courses的课程么？如果说类似这样WPI的phd AD5年都需要自己掏钱，我肯定拿不出来这么多钱，能够让学校考虑把我的ad转成MS的么？

2. 另外还有毕业时美国的学校到底给颁发几个证书？读 ms和phd后，美国学校都会给哪些证书or文凭？ 有中国类似“单双证”之说么？国内总有人说有“假的洋文凭 ”， 这些“假洋文凭”又是怎么一回事呢？希望能在出国前弄清这些事情。

似乎对存款证明没有过多的要求和限制，只需要满足在美学习的生活和学费就成。但是之前确实看过也听过其他论坛上的人说最好存款证明上的款额能够涵盖半年以上的存款，见Warald (iamxiaoning@gmail.com)

首先，家里的钱不要乱动，有历史的“老钱”或者不动产之类的东西最有用，说明你的钱不是临时拼凑的，因此，最好至少提前半年到一年，要留足够的钱不要乱挪动

我工作过2年有大概有20w的继续，都是一笔一笔存的，总数是20w，现在跟亲戚或者家人借能有10w左右。但是银行开具的存款证明只能有4条记录，这就意味着我需要将之前的所有存款条目和新借的钱合并成4条，但是现在要合并的话，这个钱存入时间就只能以现在为准了，如果到签证时就不是半年前存入的了。这是不是就不能说明我为留学赞的钱是在半年或者一年前就准备好的了？ 我自己没有投资股市，没有投资商品房，要是这种情况的话，应该如何开具银行的存款证明？
