Introduction to Yang Lab: Our lab is supported by NSF CAREER Award and DOE grants. Our group studies the collective quantum behavior in crystalline materials using neutron scattering and high magnetic fields (up to ~65 T). Our lab has crystal growth facilities, a low-temperature (1.6 K, 9 T) vibrating sample magnetometer, basic physical property characterization, X-ray single crystal diffractometer, and X-ray Laue machine (~1-million dollar lab). Experiments are also conducted at the neutron sources (e.g., Oak Ridge National Lab and ANSTO in Australia), and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. We have published more than 60 papers in journals, including Nature Materials, Nature Communications, Nano Letters, Science Advances, Advanced Science, npj Quantum Materials, and Physical Review Letters.

FYI: Students and postdoctoral researchers in our lab have many opportunities to visit and conduct experiments at world-class facilities, such as the neutron sources at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, as well as the pulsed high magnetic field facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Currently, one of our Ph.D. students is a visiting scholar at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
