EB1A DIY 心得，No PP 575天终于Approve

PhD 在读，提交时三维 11 papers + 452 citations + 20 review，想着之前NIW的排期也没有到，就一直没有加急，等了一年之后想着都等了那么久了，也许第二天就批了呢，结果一下等了575天orz（ps.现在no pp等的时间也太久了吧，23年的时候NIW no pp才等了100天）
抛砖引玉分享一下EB1A准备的过程
1. 决定自己DIY

23年12月NIW批了之后开始准备EB1A，NIW找的是律所的，即使最后批了我也还是觉得petition letter写的很差，NIW可能看引用200 PL差一点IO也放过了，但是EB1我觉得不能再这样。

2. 找审稿

phd在读一直都是给老板审稿，准备申请EB1A之前一个审稿都没有。地里常用的mdpi都要求phd毕业，我申请了两次都被拒了，第二次申请说自己有丰富的publication和sub-review经验，后面还是没有回音。可能现在mdpi也不缺审稿人，如果大家phd还没毕业可能不用在上面浪费功夫了。
我的办法就是给每个期刊的副主编发邮件，但是也不能发给完全不是一个方向的，在google scholar上主页有和自己publication相关的文章推荐，我就找这些相关文章对应的期刊，这些期刊最起码会收自己领域的paper，不然领域差别太大可能也不合适。大概发了150个邮件，有10个左右给了审稿，一开始比较难，有了审稿之后再去要的时候就可以写自己已经审了xxx，xxx，尤其一个出版社旗下的，比如我审了RSC Advances，之后再去要其他RSC的期刊，有一个副主编直接说“一般不给phd student，但是因为你已经审了RSC旗下的，就给你”。刚审稿的时候积极一点，2-3天审完，后面很多都会再给，到现在我已经有了70+审稿了。
要审稿的邮件example

As an aspiring academic, I am eager to expand my research experience and knowledge base by peer-reviewing the latest research literature. This opportunity will enhance my understanding of the field and contribute positively to my future academic pursuits. I would be truly grateful for the chance to serve as a referee and review the submissions of my fellow researchers.
I appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the scholarly community through this esteemed journal.“

3. 找推荐人

推荐信我用了4封independent，都是找的引用我文章的人（如果一作当了老板找一作，没有就找通讯），发了10个邮件，就把4个凑齐了
要推荐信邮件
a. 可以把自己老板的名头摆在标题，人家不认识你，八成认识你老板，那点进去看邮件的可能性就大很多，
b. 写自己哪个文章被他的哪个文章引用了
b. 写清楚自己会draft，
c. 推荐信除了绿卡以外不会用于其他用途。
要推荐信的邮件example
“Student from Dr. xxx's lab requests for recommendation letter
This is xxx, I am currently a Ph.D. student at the xxx under Dr. xxx’s supervision. I have followed your research and benefited tremendously from your publications. We have some overlapped research interests in the field of xxx. My paper was cited as reference Liu et al., 2022 by one of your papers titled “xxx”, published on xxx. I am attaching those papers and my CV for your reference.
I am preparing the application for U.S. permanent residency (green card) to allow me to continue the research journey in the U.S. I would heartily appreciate and be more than fortunate if you are willing to support the application with a recommendation letter, as the supporting material for the contributions of my research to the field. This recommendation letter has a big impact on judging my eligibility by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS expects applicants to provide impartial opinions from the reputable expert who is independent (no direct relationship with the applicant), but also knows the applicant’s work. Because of your excellent academic achievement and a well-established international reputation in the field, as well as the overlapped research interests, I believe that you are an appropriate expert for the recommendation letter.
I would totally understand if you cannot write this recommendation letter for various reasons, please feel free to let me know. 4. PL 格式

找了一些PL的模版，大家熟知的RedClock，Razvan，和Andrey的，Andrey的是2012年的太老了，我更喜欢RedClock的风格，有图有表有不同颜色（此处再次觉得W家的黑白纯文字io也觉得恶心吧）
基于RedClock的风格，我做了一些结构上的调整（见附图）
有几点我觉得可能有帮助
a. 我先用了快30页写significant impact，authorship和 peer review都只用了一两页，这样io可能更容易抓住重点，比较后两者有就是有，一般也不会质疑
b. Overview  of Extraordinary Influence in Field of xxx 这里面我用了大量的图表，包括不限于

• 
  
  • 
    
    • Publication Journal/Conference 影响力
    • Citation Map （也就是大家常说的油灯图，我用web of science导出引用文章的单位，然后在google my map画出来，比较好看一些）
    • 哪些国家引用我
    • 哪些厉害的单位引用我
    • 哪些厉害的期刊引用我
    • 引用我的文章覆盖了多少个不同的领域，比如 chemistry, materials science, food science, 这些在web of science 都有，而且算是不同的领域
      

c. "xx's papers are competitive compared to most significant articles in the same field" 这个我是参考了很多rfe的case，io经常质疑你这个paper和同行相比怎么样。那我用影响力大的综述，比如chemical review，一篇综述往往都是把小领域代表性文章都reference了，我们的文章也被引了，这说明我们在同行中也很优秀。进一步，再去比较一起被引的文章，和他们相比我们的引用更高，比如paper_0 是我们的，paper_x是另一个该综述引用的同行文章，我们先去筛掉10年以前的，再筛掉综述，这些往往都很高引用，paper_0比剩下的90% 的paper_x引用都高，那不就说明我们比同行好嘛。
d. 大家的文章里面的funding，如果把文章最后acknowledge作为证据，可能io会觉得这个funding是给老板的，不是给自己的，所以我找了NSF的官网，搜对应的funding number，自己的文章作为完成这个funding的贡献（NSF 对应funding的page会列出自己的文章），那可能在io眼里，这个更能证明自己的significant impact
e. media report，我都只有公众号这些，完全没有什么大报纸报道，但是我看到有一篇acs 的mini-review文章，整篇文章都是描述我的一篇文章在做什么，这种mini-review paper有些期刊很常见，就是一个文章发表了，编辑邀请另一个人给这篇文章作序的感觉。大家如果找引用，可以看看有没有这种，毕竟journal名义上也是media report咯。当然我没有单独claim media report，只是放在significant impact
e. Detailed Contributions我分成5点来讲对整个领域的impact，(1) novel method (2) thorough mechanism explanation (3) outperforming performance (4) overall impact (5）引用我的人的文章产生的impact。(1)-(3)都是通过写别人是怎么引用我的，（4）影响力大的综述, 自己文章被这种综述引了，说明在本领域有很大影响力
f. "Final Merits Determination" 中 论证“one of that small percentage who have risen to the very top of the field of endeavor”， 我找了一个斯坦福的报告“Science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” 大家可以查自己的top多少%。另外Google Scholar 的 Number of citations of top-5 articles in top 100 publications worldwide可以看到这些最top的文章 h5-index 也就是100-400，说明每年20-80 citations就能进入 top-5 articles in top 100 publications worldwide，我们总数可能比不过，但是可以比较单篇文章过去一年的引用数

总引用数我主要在Final Merit中讨论的，用的是“Science-wide author databases of standardized citaQon indicators” of Stanford University, 总引用数比不过大佬，但是比的是过去一年引用数
说明“This prestigious standing is corroborated by the “science-wide author databases of standardized citaQon indicators” of Stanford University, a comprehensive database recognizing top-cited scientists [Exhibit x]. Within this distinguished group, a mere 10% achieve more than 142 citations, and only 5% surpass 254 citations annually in the field of chemistry.”

过一阵子再来一次，不过打算找律师了。有人有推荐的非wegreen律师么？
