有没有人造哥大EE的Tesla Scholars是什么

之前报过一次哥大的AD，今天刚刚收到一封哥大的邮件，说是什么Tesla Scholars。刚开始看到scholar楼主一阵兴奋，但是发现木有ship! 通读下来也不造这个是干啥的。看着像是木有钱的节奏……
Email内容如下：

The Admissions Committee has recommended your acceptance to the prestigious Master of Science Program in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University.

You may take great pride in this accomplishment. The admissions process was very competitive and you were selected from among the most talented individuals from pre-eminent educational institutions all over the world. The committee was justly impressed with your academic and personal achievements in your undergraduate work and has every reason to believe that you will excel in our graduate program.

I am especially pleased to notify you that, in recognition of your distinctly superior academic record, you have been accorded the exceptional honor of being designated a Nikola Tesla Electrical Engineering Scholar*. This honor is conferred upon only a very small number of only the most brilliant and exceptional applicants to our graduate program. On several occasions during the year, the Scholars will meet with each other and with the EE faculty in celebration of their extraordinary achievements.

Moreover, Tesla Scholars have the distinct opportunity to participate in the Tesla Leadership Circle beginning their second semester of study. The program, initiated in 2013, is designed to provide a chance for the Tesla Scholars to experience utilizing their leadership skills while at Columbia and earning the additional funds of about $2,500 - $6,500 (depending on the fulfilled tasks).

You already know of the world-renowned electrical engineering faculty, research, laboratory facilities, academic program, libraries, and other resources at Columbia University: Our 28 full-time faculty currently conduct a multitude of world-renowned research projects. The faculty’s research impact has been recog- nized with numerous professional awards and fellowships, as well as by memberships in the National Academies. Our faculty also have excellent teaching records, with several faculty having received Univer- sity and IEEE teaching awards. Our facilities are modern, with state-of-the-art tools for education and research.

I want to point out the access you will have to not only your special technical interests in electrical engi- neering but also to the offerings in other departments of the School of Engineering and of the University. In addition, you will have opportunities to explore the cultural treasures of New York City just beyond the campus.

The EE Department and the Engineering School arrange a number of social events to provide opportuni- ties for students to get to know each other. We are confident you will enjoy your time as a graduate student in our department.

If you have submitted all the necessary documents to the Admissions Office, you should receive the official admissions packet shortly.

求问这个到底是干什么的说？

去年的tesla scholar出来说一句

要论实际意义呢，应该是没啥的，稍微有一些好处吧

1. 有专门的TA职位给tesla scholar，然后工资比一般MS的TA工资高
2. 当RA有工资，一般MS当RA我知道的都是在实验室volunteer，都木有钱拿
3. 分宿舍优先级， 只要申请了都有宿舍
4. 一些无关紧要的东西，比如请大家吃餐饭，请大家去百老汇看个show， 发点雨伞啊，gym bag之类的印有tesla scholar logo的东西之类的

楼主你好！我之前拿了tesla来的哥大，系里没学期会组织一些活动让tesla scholars免费参加（看show，球赛等等），本身是不发钱的，但是你可以凭这个title找prof做ra/ta拿payment。具体的你可以看department网站有写。
貌似是这几年搞出来的东西，我当时也问了半天没有人知道，所以来分享一下~

感觉好像除了名字听起来牛逼哄哄的意外好像没有其他特殊buff了……

感觉好像实验班一样的。。。

就是发一点小钱当奖学金吧

大家都收到ee的ad了吗？我的怎么没动静呀？

估计是我提交的早吧，应该还有大批的陆陆续续在发。莫着急，层主的AD会来的~而且好像真的没有奖学金TT
