There will be two openings for a fully supported research assistant position (Spring/Fall 2027) in the Dr. Caigang Zhu lab within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Dr. Zhu joined the University of Tennessee in 2026 as a tenured associate professor of BME. Before that, Dr. Zhu was an tenured associate professor at the University of Kentucky. His group research focuses on the development of novel optical spectroscopy and imaging techniques for cancer research. His lab also utilizes the cutting-edge techniques to understand cancer therapeutics mechanisms with NIH R01 and R21 grants. The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our cancer metabolism and metabolic imaging program in which she/he will have opportunities to pursue optical spectroscopy and imaging technology developments for breast cancers and head and neck cancers, conduct preclinical and translational research.
Position 1: Bio-photonics: requires experience or interest in optical spectroscopy and Imaging, instrumentation development, spectroscopic data processing.
Position 2: Cell biology: requires experience in cell culture, western blotting, tumor models, animal handling.
