The laboratory of Dr. Xing Liu in the Department of Biochemistry at Purdue University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary research program investigating fundamental mechanisms of protein regulation in human and plant cells. The laboratory studies dynamic protein regulatory networks, with particular interests in protein ubiquitination, protein complex remodeling, and cellular signaling, and how these processes regulate cell function and developmental plasticity.
Our research uses mammalian cell systems and model plants to address fundamental biological questions across molecular, cellular, and organismal scales. Current projects integrate cell biology, molecular genetics, genome editing, quantitative proteomics, and complementary biochemical and biophysical approaches. We are particularly interested in researchers who enjoy using mechanistic approaches to understand biological regulation in cellular and organismal contexts.
Essential Qualifications
- Ph.D. with strong research training in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related disciplines
- Strong understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying biological regulation
- At least one first-author research article published or accepted in a reputable peer-reviewed journal
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong motivation, scientific curiosity, and ability to think critically and independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or strength in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
- Mammalian cell biology, including stem cell or differentiation-related research
- Model organism research, particularly involving genetic, cell biological, or developmental approaches
- Genetics and CRISPR-based genome engineering
- Molecular and cell biological analysis of protein function and regulation
- Proteomics or mass spectrometry
- Quantitative and analytical thinking
