1月24号的时候接到了一个PhD面试,教授问了我一些很基本的问题 (本科做过的研究有哪些,你为什么要选NCSU, 为什么要读PhD,以后的职业发展方向如何),可能只是想测试一下我的语言能力怎么样。后来,27号就接到admission的邮件,之后就说第一个学期要给我一个TA(每月工资$2200),免学费。
以下是邮件内容:
We agree to employ you as a half-time Graduate Assistant for the period August 16, 2017 - May 15, 2018 at a stipend of $19,800 ($2,200/mo), and to provide equivalent or better support for the following three academic years. Your first year of support will likely be in the form of a teaching assistantship, and is intended to provide sufficient time for you to find an adviser who will provide funding for the duration of your degree. The assistantship includes the following:
? year-round medical insurance, valued at approximately $1,727;
? payment of tuition, valued at over $23,740 per year out-of-state, or $8,245 per year in-state.
The only university expenses not covered are mandatory fees (estimated at $4,020 per year). The total estimated value of this award is over $45,267 for the period August 16, 2017 - May 15, 2018, and comfortably exceeds the University’s estimate of your total living and educational expenses.

1. You agree not to accept additional employment during the 9-month academic year without approval of the Director of Graduate Programs.
2. You agree to maintain a grade-point average of 3.25 or better at all times.
3. You agree to enroll for and complete nine credit hours of graduate work counting toward your degree during each fall and spring semester.
We expect you to make satisfactory academic progress, as determined by the Graduate Faculty, who will provide regular feedback. Such progress normally includes:. 1point 3acres

? completing your core courses, with a 3.5 GPA in those courses, by the end of your third semester;
? passing the Ph.D. written preliminary exam no later than your fifth semester (sixth semester if you did not have a related master's degree before beginning the Ph.D.);
