Library & Information Science at Illinois - Graduate Admissions Decision

I regret to inform you that after careful consideration your application for admission to the *School of Information Sciences has been denied.

As you are no doubt aware, the applications to this program far exceed the numbers we could actually admit.  The pool of applications this year was very strong with limited openings.  When we consider an application, we look at the applicant's academic record, recommendations, experience and especially their research area.  While your application may have been strong, it was not sufficiently strong in all these areas to be competitive with the pool of applicants.

The process for admission is very competitive and many more qualified candidates apply than we can accommodate. As each application is thoroughly reviewed, it is the *School of Information Sciences policy not to revisit cases in a given cycle.
