BS直接申PhD 因為CU Boulder Optics很強(US News Rank 1*Physics - Atomic / Molecular / Optical Ranked in 2017) 就專申他家的PhD  
不料被轉碩Photonics  (MSEE-PHO)信裡寫
Yes, in spite of your intent to enroll as a Ph.D. student, the admissions faculty feel you are qualified to enroll, at this time, as a Master of Science student.  Specifically, we would like to invite you to be part of the inaugural class of our new Professional Masters of Science specialization in Photonics  (MSEE-PHO).  The Professional Masters Program was launched by the department in 2015 to focus on areas of significant industrial need for highly trained professionals.  Photonics will join our existing Professional Masters of Science programs in Embedded Systems Engineering (MSEE-ESE) and Power Electronics (MSEE-PPE).

我覺得是看你做不做半導體光學，CU B強的是矽光子通訊這塊 今年CES有跟intel一起出一塊矽光子晶片 fund看起來應該是夠

補充一下，雖然沒有要去不過這看起來是個光學/EE就業導向好的Program 除了CU-B US News物理光學是Top1外
Program內部設計有在一個科學院區的實習機會貌似很不錯（只限P內的人），系主任有私下招募如下

You are right in that we advertise the Photonics program with a job-oriented focus, but we can certainly accommodate a research interest.  There can also be a path to the PhD based on your performance and engaging with the faculty.  

We will be offering an “internal” internship program of working in the Colorado Nanofabrication Lab.  In addition, there will be opportunities with the local industry that is strongly supporting this program.  The industrial association can be found here to give you an idea of the internship possibilities.
