I regret to inform you that you will not be offered admission to the Cornell University's Ph.D. program for Fall 2012. With a combined total of more than  500 applications to the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, we were able to admit only 10% of the applicant pool. While recognizing that we must deny many qualified applicants, the faculty endeavor to choose applicants they feel are the best match for our program. Thank you for the interest in our program and we wish you the best with whatever plans next year brings.
