Research Assistantship and Visiting Scholar Opportunities in Computer Science

The Data-Intensive Scalable Computing Laboratory (DISCL) in the Computer
Science Department of the Texas Tech University is looking for
. ----highly-qualified and self-motivated students to pursue Ph.D. degree in
Computer Science with financial assistantship available.
**We offer competitive assistantship with annual salary of $26,000 plus
benefits including tuition waiver, health insurance, etc.**

The DISCL research group focuses on parallel and distributed computing,
parallel I/O and storage, high-performance computing, Cloud computing,
and systems software. There are several active and on-going projects in
the DISCL group, including Scalable Storage Architectures for
Large-scale Systems, Application-specific I/O Optimizations, and
Multicore Scheduling and Data-Access Optimizations. Students
with one or more of the following backgrounds are preferred:
- Parallel and distributed processing
- Operating systems experience
- Computer architectures experience
- System/network programming skills
- Mathematical/probability/statistics

The DISCL group is also looking for visiting graduate students or
scholars and hosts their visits/studies at the Texas Tech University via
participating a third-party sponsorship program, such as the Chinese
Government Scholarship Programs managed by the China Scholarship Council

The participation through either a visiting scholar program or a program
for obtaining a Ph.D. degree from Texas Tech University is welcomed.
