Multiple fully funded Ph.D. positions are available in the Design and Optimization of Energy Systems (DOES) Laboratory (http://www.utdallas.edu/~jiezhang/) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering at UT-Dallas in Spring 2018 or Fall 2018. The research interests and expertise in DOES Lab are: Power & energy systems, renewable integration, electricity market, big data analytics, energy systems modeling and simulation, multidisciplinary design optimization, complex engineered systems. Preferred qualifications: (1) B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, statistics, or mechanical engineering; (2) strong background in mathematical optimization methods; (3) knowledge in power & energy systems, renewable integration, multidisciplinary design optimization, and big data analytics; and (4) good programming skills and familiar with one or more of the following tools: R, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, OpenDSS, GridLab-D, MATPOWER, CPLEX, GAMS, PYOMO.
