请大侠们来看一下，这个fellowship竟然是不全免学费的？

它是这样说的：

第一段比较清楚，是说给2年的fellowship和3年的GA，一共5年。并且给全年的健康和牙医保险。在GA的年份里，我会收到学校regular的RA或者TA的工资。

可第二段就令我费解了：
The fellowship portion of the award will consist of one Early Fellowship Year with a 9 month stipend of $24000 and up to 12 units of approved PhD-related tuition at the college ratein both fall and spring semesters, and one Advanced Fellowship Year with a stipend of $24000 and 2 units of PhD-related tuitioin at the College rate in both fall and spring semesters. After you have completed and submitted all required payroll forms, you will be paid on the normal monthly payroll cycle, usually the 26th of each month. Your department will determine the sequence of the years on fellowship and years as a GA.
这一段是说给我的学费只够上12个和2个学分的？？？ 那多出来的学分怎么办呢？。。还有，那后面的payroll form是咋回事啊？

还有令人伤心的第三段：
You department is required to recommend continuation or discontinuation of your Graduate Merit Award to the Vice Dean of Academic Programs each year. The recommendation is based on your academic performance and progress toward your degree, and your performance as a GA. Any and all stipends to which you are entitled are dependent on your full-time student status. You are not in student status unless you are registered for classes, so please make every effort to register for your Fall 2010 classes as soon as possible. You must be registered for a minimum of 6 units of graduate coursework Thesis 594, Dissertation 794, GRSC 800 or GRSE 810. (这句是用粗体字写的）The tuition allowance is non-transferable from semester and will be applied to your fee bill in the amount appropriate for the courses you take, up to 12 units. (啥意思？？）
是说一定要选课？
这个学校为什么对选课这么重视呢？竟然是fellowship的条件之一。


最后一段好像是讲条件，是说我不能做任何其它工作。。A condition of the award is that you not accept any contemporaneous employment, either within or outside the university. You may, however, accept employment May 16 through Aug 14 without impairing your Award eligibility unless you have been awarded summer funding through the bollege.

貌似PhD后面几年除了dissertation，就不上课了，自然不用交学分的钱吧……

第一句我也看不明白，我十分怀疑是小米打错了，最好找他们核实一下。首先不太可能有两份24000的stipend，其次学分数也对不上。payroll form没啥，就是填点个人资料，银行帐号啥的，便于给你发钱，通常是去了以后才填的。

第三段很正常，国际学生保持F-1身份的必要条件是full-time enrollment，通常是指每个长学期（spring/fall）要注册至少9个学分，至多12个学分。每门课通常是3学分，所以就是3-4门课。选少了就变成part-time student，F-1会失效，选多了奖学金不cover。你的这个fellowship就是只给full-time student的。对你其实没有影响，因为作为国际学生，full-time本来就是必须的要求。这个选课不一定是选真正的课，可以是类似research time，不用真正上课，用研究来代替课程。当然学费还是得算的。一般phd program需要真正上的课其实也就是30学分左右，但是毕业需要72学分，大部分都是用研究去顶的。（以上是我了解的情况，各学校可能差异比较大，最好查清楚。）第四段就是说你不能又拿奖学金又去做别的工作，这也正常，而且事实上你也不太可能有时间再接别的工作了。
