这是professor发的信：
thank you for your letter, and good luck with your application to the XXX program.

I potentially do have an opening for a new graduate student.  In the first year of the program, you are required to do 'rotations' in different labs.  One of those could be with me.  At the end of the first year, you decide which laboratory you wish to join for your thesis, and by then I will almost certainly have space for a PhD student to do a thesis.

Can I mention your lab somewhere in my statement of purpose when I upload it through one-line application system? I am really looking forward to beginning my rotaions in your lab in the near future if I am lucky and competitive enough. Thank you again.

要做rotation...又是大生物方向的吧。。
