Thank you for your email. The CSE Department receives approximately over 4,500 applications annually. Admissions are competitive and they select a small pool of applicants for both the PhD and MS programs. All admission decisions are final. There are currently no wait lists or second reviews for declined applications at this time. Due to the large volume of requests, the department is not able to provide feedback on specific application decisions.

Thank you for your email and for having applied to Washington University. Admission decisions are made at the department level and by review of the committee. I understand that the outcome of the committee’s decision is not the desired one for you however, as stated in the letter, competition for study at our university grows stronger ever year. I appreciate that you wished to study here and encourage you to apply again in the future.

Dear Shijie Chen,
Thank you for your message. At this time we are not able to comment on individual admissions decisions, as we take a number of factors into consideration. Admission to our program is competitive, and unfortunately we have only so many spots in our incoming class and we are not able to grant admission to all those who wish to undertake graduate study here.
We wish you all the best in your future studies.
Kind Regards,
Sean Widlake. 1point 3 acres
