Dr. Shuai Wang will join the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as an Assistant Professor
in 2019. He is recruiting multiple Ph.D. students starting from 2019 Fall.
Students will be working on exciting research projects in computer security.
Shuai Wang is broadly interested in computer security and specializes in binary
code analysis and low-level security techniques. His recent research projects
include binary code reverse engineering, malware detection, software
exploitation, side channel attack, advanced greybox fuzzing, and security issues
on emerging platforms such as deep learning systems. He has published in a
series of top tier Computer Security and Software Systems venues such as USENIX
Security, IEEE Euro S&P, ICSE, ASE, etc. One of his binary reverse engineering
work, Reassemble Disassembling, has been adopted and enhanced by two teams among
the seven finalists in the 2016 DARPA Cyber Grand Challenge (CGC) competition.
Any candidates with strong interest in computer security are encouraged to
apply, but applicant's experience in this field is not required. Candidates with
background on binary reverse engineering, computer systems and compilers will
receive prior consideration, but the requirement is also not mandatory. The
admitted students will receive full financial supports.
This year HKUST is ranked 37th regarding QS World University Rankings, and the
CSE department is ranked 14th in the Subject of Computer Science and Information
