Your application for the doctoral program in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University has been reviewed by the faculty committee on admissions. We had a very large and competitive group of applicants this year.  While we have not selected you for admission at this time, we have placed you on our waiting list.  Since we have asked admitted applicants to respond to our offer of admission by April 15th, we expect to have a decision for those on the waiting list no later than April 20th.  We will admit students off the waiting list on a rolling basis, as we receive decisions from admitted applicants.
If you indicated on your application that you wished to be considered for the master program, we have sent your file to the master admission committee.  In the event that you are not admitted to the doctoral program, you will still be eligible for admission to the master program.

We understand that it is likely that you have received offers of admission from other Universities, and that they require you to give them your decision before April 20th.  Therefore, we will act as soon as we can on your situation.  We also understand that you may make another choice before we can respond.  If you are not interested in remaining on our waiting list, please let me know.

We appreciate your interest in Stanford.  We will be in contact with you as soon as possible, and no later than April 20th.
