留学生失信频发引关注 美国导师拒收中国学生

这不是前一阵子那个UMich ME教授说THU学生的文章么？

这个好像是官方回复：

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan has a
long and rich history of admitting and funding PhD students from China. Our
PhD program is very selective, as an example, of the 85 international
students offered admission into our program for Fall of 2007, 32 are from
China and of those 32 fully 1/2 (or 16 applicants) have either been offered
a fellowship or a research assistantship position. We look to strengthen our
relationship with Chinese Universities. For further evidence of our
commitment one need look no further than Mechanical Engineering Professor
Jun Ni who is the first Dean of the University of Michigan and Shanghai Jiao
Tong University Joint Institute.

Excellent Chinese students are key members of our Graduate Program and we
look forward to their continuing success and contribution.



Recently it has come to our attention that a letter attributed to a
University of Michigan Mechanical Engineering Professor claiming that it is
"very difficult" for the ME department to accept Chinese students. Simply
put, this statement is not true and is not consistent with the facts.
Because of the wording used in the letter I doubt it is from one of our own
Professors. Regardless of that, our program has and will continue to admit,
fund and graduate highly qualified Chinese students. We hope that you will
not let such a letter affect your application to the University of Michigan
's ME Department - in fact we encourage highly qualified applicants to apply.

-- 真要考虑绿卡，就先把phd读了，好好做research，走eb1的道路，几个月就可以拿到；没有博士学位，基本只能走eb2，排期要很久。

而且，从逻辑的角度来说，别说一个老师，就算有10个老师手下有学生走掉，也只是个别现象，犯不着说的好像是美国老师普遍不要中国学生似的。

美国学生也有quit的，5年时间，就算结婚，都可以离了再结了，更何况读phd

读博士又不签协议，也没听说过还要怎么承诺一定读到底，决不离开。又不是卖身，只许来不许走。把quit说成不诚信，是很荒唐的事情。学生跑路是学生的自由，老板想留人就提高待遇。这帮老板纯属廉价劳动力用多了惯出来的毛病，时代变了，发现廉价劳动力敢反抗敢跑路了，就开始大呼小叫。

标题后半句在文中无对应内容。。

这种事情，变化是永恒的，只是如果这个变化发生在被认为是不恰当的时机时，就会有人不满意了。“求变”没有错！

这个消息和每年增加录取的中国学生PHD数量矛盾嘛
