之前发了很多邮件,收到了很多没用的auto-replies
今天收到一个算是比较“正式”的回复,来自 Tim Kaine 但是也完全没看懂这个senator到底支持还是反对,在这里贴一下
Thank you for contacting me about high-skilled immigration. I appreciate hearing from you.
Under current immigration law, the United States places annual limits on the number of immigrants from any one country. No group of family-based or employment-based immigrants from a single country can exceed 7 percent of the limit in each preference category. The objective of this limitation is to prevent any immigrant group from dominating immigration flows. This helps diversify the people who immigrate to our country.
On February 7, 2019, Senator Mike Lee introduced the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act to eliminate the per-country numerical limitation for employment-based immigrants and increase the per-country limitation for family-based immigrants. This bill has since been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
I have been a strong proponent of comprehensive reform to fix our broken immigration system. In 2013, I voted for a bipartisan immigration reform bill that passed the Senate. If it had been enacted, it would have strengthened border security, improved workplace enforcement mechanisms for companies to verify the immigration status of their employees like E-Verify, and increased the number of merit-based visas. It would have created an earned pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who have grown roots in our communities following compliance with various requirements, including background checks, fines, taxes, and a return to the end of the line to apply for permanent legal status or citizenship.
Moving forward, I will continue to support long-term legislative solutions that prioritize American workers, protect our citizens' security, and encourage the world's best and brightest to invest their potential here in the United States. Thank you again for contacting me. |
