A Postdoctoral Fellow Position is available in the area of electrochemical catalysis in Prof. Guoliang Liu’s laboratory of the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech. The Post-Doctoral position is full time for an initial appointment of 12 months. The position is renewable based on research performance, continued funding, and the need for the services.

Responsibilities: This position is available to conduct research in the area of electrochemical catalysis. Candidates with a strong expertise in electrochemistry, catalysis, and carbon materials are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate is expected to perform both fundamental and applied scholarly research works in the related field; to collect experimental data and analyze data; to prepare reports for funding agency, and manuscript for publications; to present research results at scientific conference; and to train graduate students as needed.

Qualifications: Ph.D. Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related fields. Preferred research experience in one or more of the following: polymer synthesis, carbon synthesis, catalysis, and electrochemistry analysis. Preferred instruments skills include GC-MS, SEM, TEM, Raman, BET, etc. It is necessary to have good technical communication skills and some publication history of scholarly papers is desired.
