Dr. Matthew C. Stamm is currently recruiting Ph.D. students for his lab at
Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Stamm is an Associate Professor
in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Drexel
University.
Dr. Stamm’s lab develops algorithms to detect fake images and videos, such
as “deepfakes”. His lab’s research lies at the intersection of machine
learning and artificial intelligence, signal processing, image and video
processing, game theory, etc. Recently much of his research relies heavily
on deep learning techniques such as convolutional neural networks and
generative adversarial networks. Students graduating from his lab have
secured positions at prestigious employers such as Facebook and Amazon as
machine learning researchers.
Dr. Stamm’s lab currently is involved in several funded research projects.
Some examples of these projects include:
- Developing deep learning algorithms to identify fake images made using
Photoshop and other software.
- Creating AI tools to detect “deepfake” videos and other falsified media.
- Developing techniques to find a video’s source camera using machine
learning and signal processing algorithms for large scale databases (for
example Youtube or other social media sites).
- Using deep learning and game theory to understand how forgers make fake
images.
Interested students can also contact Dr. Stamm at mstamm@drexel.edu.
Interested students should have a background in electrical engineering or
computer engineering, or a related field such as computer science or
mathematics. It is good to have familiarity with some signal processing and
programming in some language, however all strong candidates will be
considered.
