真诚发问 现在这个时间点再套磁/申请可行吗

楼主生物专业，申请美国BBS或biomedical science方向的直博全奖，目前C9大四，2020 fall已经所剩无几几近全拒，有人告诉我说现在还可以给教授套磁什么的说教授如果要你也可以不care学校那个去年12月1日的申请ddl，想问一下地里的大家，现在再套磁（往低一点排名的大学套）有成功的可能吗？以及包括美国，欧洲，日本在内还有没有学校还没截止申请的呢？感谢大家帮忙解答！现在就是处在这种不知道该不该再投投套磁信或者其他方法努力一把的纠结时候T T...

Depends on your goal for a PhD degree:
1. if you really like the field and want to do contributions, I suggest you do some improvement on your background(pub, research experience, etc.) and apply again the next years.
2. if you just care about the PhD title, Yeah, go head, shoot more emails to profs that still have potential openings and try your luck.

Thank you a lot for your advice that leaves me a really deep impression. I really like this field so I am preparing for gap years. I think my background is poor even if I just take some summer researches, so I am now deciding to take a long gap, maybe 3years, to go to my professors lab in US as a RA. After these years I will go on apply for PhD.. May I ask for your opinion that whether that deserves? Thanks!

Disclaimer: Nothing can secure you an admission for PhD program, tons of factors come into play, school funding, professor funding, relationship between US and China, etc. I can give you some advice based on my experience but do not fully trust on that. You live your life and need to make your own decision.

Ok, here we begin.
Three years inside a professor's lab can be a bad idea, it's wayyyyy too long, one year may be acceptable. If you can use one year to show your research capability, there's a large chance the professor you are with will be willing to give you a position in his PhD team. If you cannot do it within one year, find another professor or do something else. Three years inside one lab is a huge waste of time.
Another thing you can try is do find a job that involves research. A job can give you higher wage, better training and working experience.  Applying for PhD while doing your full time job gives you a backup. If you got admitted, go for it. If not, you still have your job. Consider the same scenario when you are in a professor's lab, if he is not impressed by you and want to lay to off, what you gonna do and what you get in these years?
That's my 2 cents.

LZ不如想一想最终想从事什么职位？博士学位也不是必须的，降低申请学校的排名的确可以给你带来AD，不过非牛组非热门方向干bio几年，没有牛作的话，毕业了干啥？人总要吃饭。
不建议去一个教授LAB GAP三年，不值得。一年就两万，还没有学位，闹呢？扫地都比这个挣得多。实在没办法就在美国边干边申请PHD，拿到Offer走人。
