柬埔寨金边首签check全过程

08:04 Hand in your appointment letter and passport at the gate opposite to Yeay Penh Statue to enter the embassy. (Note: You must keep your personal belongings in the gate-keeper's room. Only transparent plastic bags are allowed for further entering. Chinese ID card is also needed.)

Further Entering:

• go to the Window 1: Intake I-20, Passport, Photo……

• go to the Window 2: Your fingerprint
• WAIT for the calling
• Window 3 (a white man with a super-bulky body): (10 min)

•         I printed an introduction from the school website…

•         OK, I received an offer from…ECE Phd…
• o        So why you choose this school?
•         Because I only got # offers, including… after comparing, I choose…
• o        What is your school in China?
•         (Hand my transcript)
• o        Who is your sponsor in China (Point to my transcript)
•         My parents
• o        So what is your parents’ job?
•         My father is … (Hand my father’s job certificate & income).  
• o        (Scrutinize my father's job, very carefully, then return)
•         And my mother’s job… (interrupt) (No need about my mother…)
• o        So who is your advisor?
•         (Hand my advisor’s CV)
• o        (Ask for my CV)
• o        Do you have any study plan?
•         (Hand my study plan)
• o        So what do you plan to do – career plan?
•         I come from a teacher family. In my opinion, being a professor in China is honorable……
• o        Who is your sponsor for your program? The fellowship…
•         (Hand my fellowship letter and School Offer Letter)
• o        Are you plan to go to the US or …
•         (Hand my school invitation letter) I will go to the US as soon as I get a visa.
• o        Do you have received any fund and fellowship from the Chinese Gov? Do you have any tie with the military?  
• o        We need additional process on your application. Wait for the email if we need further materials. (Yellow Paper) Could I keep your materials?

(It was not my fault! Thanks to their long check! They forced me to miss the start-date.)
(However, I asked my school and I got a new I-20)

今天去提交护照了。由于这两周金边美使馆都不处理外国人的申请，所以整个使馆非常冷清，门口都没人排队了。
根据门口保安的表格，今天只有2个外国人预约进入使馆。其他叫号的都是柬埔寨本地人（排队号码8开头的）（我看到3对本地人在等候面谈，是办理团聚/移民之类的）。馆里面没有见到之前负责中国人的“大胡子”，他们的窗口都关灯了，只剩下3个窗口开着，处理柬埔寨本地人。后面工作区也没见到大胡子，可能放假了——怪不得这两周不开放non-resident的签证申请。

辛苦，呆了这么久
