fb pm面试考察三个方向:Product sense (e.g. How to improve newsfeed), execution (e.g How do you measure the success of Market place), leadership (behavior)。fb是出名的喜欢问自家的产品,所以提前准备好每个产品的high level definition和product goal是什么,是答好这些问题的基础。
以下是我在准备fb面试时自己总结的product definition和product goal,分享给大家做参考。
首先是company mission
Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. People use Facebook to stay connected with friends and family, to discover what’s going on in the world, and to share and express what matters to them.
所有的product goal都应该align w/ compnay mission.
IG
What: a photo and video sharing social networking app
Goal: to capture the world’s moments, and share with friends.
Newsfeed
What: a constantly updating list of stories in the fb home page, which includes status updates, photos, videos, links, app activity, ads, and likes from people, Pages and groups that users follow on Facebook.
Goal: to connect people to the stories they care about the most, and keep them connected with their friends and communities through interactions.
Groups
What: a place to communicate about shared interests with certain people. Can be created by individual users, and group members can post content (links, media, questions, events…), and react to the content.
Goal: to connect people based on shared interests/hobbies to promote deeper interactions.
Messengers/Whatsapp
What: an instant messaging tool to allow users to make voice calls, and send text, photos, and videos and other media to their friends and families.
Goal: to help users stay connected for deeper interactions.
Reactions
What: A set of 6 emoji-like icons users can use to respond to a post or a comment.
Goal: To provide users an easier way to react to the content and to better express themselves beyond “like”.
Local
What: A mobile app to allow users to search events in the community, information about friends’ check-ins, and check reviews of local businesses.
Goal: To provide users with authentic information about places to go or events happening, from the people they trust.
Watch
What: video-on-demand service that combines aspects of its video-sharing functionality with premium content. It allows creators to upload their own short- and long-form videos, but it also includes original comedy, drama, and news programming. Watch is more than just a library of videos — it’s a place where people can follow video creators they care about, start conversations about videos with friends, and build communities of fans who share their interests.
Goal: To build deep bonds through watching online videos, instead of just having a passive viewing experience.
Marketplace
What: An online buy-and-sell platform to allow users to list items for sale or browse items to buy.
Goal: To make it easy to discover, buy and sell goods in the communities, and to build connections between users.
Fundraiser
What: To help individuals or organizations to raise money for a person or a cause.
Goal: To build strong connections between individuals who care deeply about the same individuals or causes.
Stories
What: Allow users to post photos/videos with filters and effects. Users can choose to share the content with a certain group of people or publicly, and by default, the posted content disappears after 24 hours. And other users can view the content.
Goal: To help users create and discover more engaging content to promote further interactions among users.
Lite
What: It's a stripped-down version of the standard Facebook app designed for poor network connections and low-end phones. Smaller file size, lower resolution image, no video autoplay, etc.
Goal: To make fb accessible to more people and help them stay connected.
Birthdays
What: Allow users to view others’ birthdays and get reminded when those birthdays are approaching.
Goal: To build emotional bonds between users to promote deeper interactions.
Events
What: an app for facebook users to organize social gatherings and to send invites to other users so that they can attend if interested.
Goal: To help streamline event organizing, planning and RSVP experience, so that more events can be successfully hosted, and therefore more fb users can connect with each other by attending these events.
Pages
What: Places on Facebook where artists, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations and nonprofits can connect with their fans or customers. When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they can start seeing updates from that Page in their News Feed.
Goal: To allow page creators to interact and connect with their fans and followers.
