UCI ME曝光天坑教授

UCI 机械学院教授Zak（做导航方向的），PhD学生两年quit大约8人，且口碑在UCI ME EE CS学院极差。
招学生时各种欺骗学生第一学期自费之后全奖，结果到学校后让白打工一年然后以各种方式不给funding排斥踢出PhD（一年招4个，第二年踢走3个），quit的PhD有中国人也有美国人，并且quit的学生的记录不会留在他的网站上，让人无法联系询问。请大家擦亮眼睛，谨慎选择导师，多联系教授名下学生以及相关人员了解实际情况。

我当年在他组里读过一年，当时他是AP，人及其push，一开始也算是理解。
不过第一学期我只有一门课拿了A-，其他全A，他就让我换导师走人，但是看我很刻苦的份上，再给我个机会，下个学期必须发出paper才行（典型的PUA）。
我这时候知道这个人人品有问题，非常自私，学生的credit都要抢，聘请的加拿大毕业的的博后组会上直接当着我们的面被骂的猪狗不如，组里自费的美国研究生被他卡了三年才毕业（因为她是thesis based）。
Anyway，后来第一年后半段我基本上就已经和他没什么meeting了，直接第一年结束摊牌换导师走人，幸运的是我后面的华人导师，当时同样是AP，水平很高，人很好。
当年他在UCR的烂事我能说出一大堆 （不过是他跳槽去的UCI，不是被UCR fire），感兴趣私聊。
最后的最后，我本以为他去UCI拿到tenure，人是不是会收敛点，直到今天被楼主爆出来，我只能说跟过他的人都太不容易了。早点换导师早解脱。

这里粘贴一下GradCafe的爆料，Feb.24 的一个录取写的：
Try to avoid this professor: Zak Kassas. He has no ethical bottom line at all, and has a terrible reputation at UCI. He has been doing a flood of awful things to students. He is too expert at advertising, so every year he persuades many students to give up other offers and join his lab using misleading and deceptive information. Never trust him or his websites unless you contact any current student or faculty of UCI at MAE department. In each of his papers, the first few pages are totally the same and almost half of the citations are intentionally cited from his own papers, which no prestigious researchers would do. Many ideas he presented in conferences come from his students, who have been driven crazy by him or quit. Many Ph.D. students quit from his lab every year.

有时候就是不知道怎么样找到课题组的学长学姐，导致没有得知课题组的真实情况。不知道贴主有没有什么好办法分享。

最好的方法就是找到教授网站上学生的邮箱直接发邮件吧，但是像这种教授刻意隐藏学生邮箱的我也不知道怎么办。可能可以试一下领英、googlescholar、贴吧这种找到联系方式。我知道这个教授就是因为我研究生的学长在这个教授名下已经决定quit了，而且被精神上压迫得找学校心理健康中心了。

美国这种心理变态的导师怎么这么多？这种属于abuse学生。这种导师能不能告他啊？

之前在UCR就是ECE里面出了名的第一坑。第二坑都难以望其项背。除非你是论文机器，否则赶紧溜，不要保有幻想。
