然后是UIUC~又是一个很NICE的小秘~回答的很详细~. Χ

. 1point3acres.com 1.        You do not need to mail anything.  All of the required support documents should be uploaded to the application:  transcripts, statement of purpose, resume.  You will need three reference letters but you just enter the reference’s names and email addresses and then the application system will send each recommender an email requesting the letter.  It will include instructions for submitting their letter.  We also need GRE and TOEFL scores submitted to us by ETS.

2.       No – there is no need to use an evaluation service.  We receive transcripts from all of the world.  We pretty much know what to look for.

3.       You may submit the TOEFL after you submit the application, but your application will remain on hold until your scores are received.  We cannot make an admission decision on an incomplete application.-baidu 1point3acres
. 1point 3acres
4.       Yes – I have average for Fall 2013 applicants who were approved for admission.  I have not yet had time to post them on our webpage.

GPA average:  3.6/4.0  (B=3.0)     GRE:  verbal  155    quantitative 164   writing  4.0     .  Remember that these are not the minimum requirements.  We do not have a minimum requirement for GRE scores

5.       Yes, his personal email address will be fine.  Although the letter he submits should be on letterhead and include his signature

6.       Yes, you may still apply.  We do not require that applicants have a bachelors in engineering.  Science students may also apply but there may be some engineering prerequisites that they will need to take.  We just require that you complete the bachelor’s program at an accredited university.  We do not care whether you have taken physical ed courses.

7.       We do not know how many students will be admitted for future semesters.    For Fall 2013 – 48% of our applicants were approved for admission.  72% of our applicants were international students.  55% of our admitted students were international.

There is no requirement to have a degree in engineering. Our program is in "Environmental Sciences" not in "Environmental Engineering". However, not having courses in physical sciences may  be a problem, which will likely be reflected in your GRE. International applicants in our program typically have a very high score in quantitative QRI (160 or higher). However, most important for getting acceptance, unless you have your own funding for your studies, is to find a sponsoring professor. Thus to be successful, you need to find a professor, who will be interested in funding your studies from his/her research project. Without that, your chance of being accepted into our graduate program are minimal.

然后我又问了下sponsoring professor的事儿~教授给的回复如下:
As I have written before, unless you plan to pay for your studies (tuition for international students is quite high - about $27k), you need someone else to be willing to pay for it. The university itself may offer to wave one quarter of tuition fee for very strong candidates. However, someone else has to pay for the rest. You cannot be accepted until it is clear how that rest is going to be paid.
..
唉,要好好酝酿呢,套磁!. check 1point3acres for more.

我的邮件内容:
Dear     ,
I am a third year undergraduate student in        ,China. My major is Transportation. I wish to pursue a master's degree in        2014, Fall. After searching information on school's Admissions web page, I still have the following questions to ask:
. 1point 3 acres
1  Do you have a preference for early application, such as " first come, first served"? When will my application be taken into consideration? Only after I have sent all the materials required? Or should I apply as soon as possible and send the materials before deadline?

2  Do you have the average scores of GPA, GRE, TOEFL for students admitted in 2013, Fall?

3  Could you give me some admission data, such as how many students is the program going to admit for 2014, Fall? Or the information of 2013, Fall. For example, what percentage of applicants got admitted 2013, Fall, and how many of them were international students?
. check 1point3acres for more.
4  Could you tell me something about the funding situation of the Transportation Engineering Program? What's the chance of getting a teaching or research assistantship? Do you have the funding statistics of students in this program in 2013, Fall?

5  Can you offer me some suggestions that will help my application? Thank you very much.

Please let me know at your earliest convenience,
With kindest regards,

来自UIUC的回复:
1.        For Fall 2014 admissions, our graduate committees will begin looking at the applications about mid-January to begin choosing applicants who will receive funding with their admission.  They cannot consider incomplete applications so you should try to have everything submitted as close to the January 4th deadline as you can.  Submitting the application before January, will not really gain you much.

2.       Averages for Fall 2013 applicants who were approved for admission:  gpa 3.6   GREs:  verbal 155  quantitative 164  writing 4.0
. .и
3.       For Fall 2013 admissions :  48% of our applicants were approved for admission.  55% approved for admission were international applicants.  14% of the applicants approved for admission received funding offers.  37% of our funding offers were made to international applicants.

4.       I do not know what the funding situation will be in transportation engineering.  For Fall 2013, about 22% of their applicants who were approved for admission received a funding offer.  That is likely to change for Fall 2014.

5.       Be sure to submit your application along with all of the required support documents by January 4, 2014, in order to be considered for all possible sources of funding.   I suggest you look at our CEE website and read about the transportation program.. 1point3acres

We are now accepting applications for the Fall 2014 term.  Decisions will not be available until March – May 1st.

来自 UC Berkeley 的回复:
To answer your questions:.--

1.  We do not do a rolling admissions. We only begin to review applications after the deadline so getting your application in earlier will not make your chances any better.

2. Avergae GPA for Transportation is a 3.5/4. For the GRE: 150+ in Verbal, 160+ in Quantitative, and 4+ in Writing. TOEFL is around a 95 on the iBT.

3. About 20% of our applicants are admitted into all of our programs. I cannot give you the data on how many international students were admitted.

4. Most TRN students receive some type of funding whether that be direct fellowships or teaching assistantships and readers that mitigate partial funding and give a stipend.

5. As for suggestions. I advise contacting the admissions officer for the TRN program, Prof. Joan Walker: walker@ce.berkeley.edu. She will be able to give you more insight into what type of student they generally admit.

Sincerely,
