关于旧签+新I-20入境问题学校的回复

There is no clear government guidance on this. For the student’s first (initial) entry to the U.S, the rule is clear: the name of the school on the visa must match the name of the school on the I-20. In your case, this is not exactly your 1st entry, so the situation is less clear.


We have heard conflicting views from the government as to whether the SEVIS ID on the visa must match the one of the I-20 or not. Most CBP officers seem to think that there is no such requirement, and as long as the visa is not expired, it is valid. However, Dept. of State in the past indicated that it is recommended that you get a new visa if you have been out of the U.S. (and not enrolled in classes) for 5 months or more. It is up to you whether you want to use the same visa or apply for a new one. Please be aware that a visa issuance is not guaranteed (there is always a risk of denial, even though it is small in your case) and that your visa application may subject you to a lengthy administrative processing (this may mean a long delay before your visa is issued).

我们学校的ISO人员跟我发邮件说，他刚参加了一个线上会议，CBP官员是说这种情况可以的

感觉是医生开了个处方，然后把所有副作用说了一遍。然后又告知不吃这药可能也会好。你看着办吧。这回复太官方了！我觉得要是时间来得及，可以申请个新的visa。要是时间来不及就把学校的回复，已经visa申请预约网站的availability截图下来，入关以防被拦，可以用文件进行解释。

去年有人咨询CBP官网得到答复可以的，我不知道贴这里人家的收到的邮件答复合适不合适
