Dr. Yi He is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Old Dominion University (ODU). He is looking for self-motivated PhD and Master students, who are interested in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Mining, to join his lab, starting from Spring 2022.
PhD students will be fully supported as a graduate teaching assistant (TA) or research assistant (RA), with a tuition waiver + $2000 monthly stipend; MS students will be supported as RA with a tuition waiver.
P.S.: Norfolk is a city with cheap life expenses, where you can expect an enjoyable life with such a stipend.
About Dr. Yi He:
His research interests lie broadly in AI, ML, and DM and specifically in online machine learning, real-time data analytics, representation learning, graph mining, and explainable AI. He has published 16 papers in the recent three years (2019--2021) in top-tier venues, such as AAAI, IJCAI, WWW, ICDM, TKDE, to name a few. Expectations and Requirements:
1. Meet the minimum admission requirements of ODU (TOEFL IBT 79/IELTS 6.5 and GRE 150 + 150, for more details, please go to the application checklist https://www.odu.edu/admission/international/process/graduate-international-checklist). Note, GRE is NOT a must if prior research experience could be demonstrated.
2. Having one of the following three preliminaries is preferred: 1) Being familiar with one programming language (python/JAVA/C/Matlab); 2) Solid math background; 3) prior research experience.
3. Background in all science and engineering fields is welcomed, including but not limited to, computer science/engineering, math, statistics, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, to name a few. As long as you are eager to research AI & ML and are excited to conduct good science, we can talk.
