University of Oklahoma 陶瓷回复做何解？

之前看到OU网站上写的要提前联系好导师，于是就发信过去，结果没想到一下就回复了，对方直接让我在PS中提到他，然后在网申的时候填他的名字，否则会被刷。我当时激动的以为能保底了……结果再看下面一段，新旧凉了。

  Note that the minimum values to be considered for admission are an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and GRE scores that are at least in the upper 50% of students taking the exam on both the verbal and quantitative parts of the exam (these are minimum values to be considered; higher values are required for admission).

楼主 G的verbal硬伤啊（v149,rank 40%)，一下就戳到痛处了,于是回复对面导师，求帮助，稍微低几分不行么，再考恐怕来不及了。

教授很委婉的回复了“The GRE scores I mentioned are minimum values to be considered only (a minimum cutoff).  To be seriously considered requires that an applicant's scores be very high - much higher than the minimum values.  For reference, several of the students that were ultimately admitted last year had almost perfect GRE scores and very high GPAs (near 4.0/4.0) from top-ranked universities”
然后我又吓尿了，OU这么抢手啊，都perfect GRE score, 满GPA的，这是什么情况啊？

求各位大神指点下，我后面怎么回复啊？这是说我基本没戏的意思么？
